The Woodlawn Center
Chicago, IL
This proposal won the Jurors Choice Award with 3 other group members for the National Organization of Minority Architects. As President, I was heavily involved in all aspects of the projects and the conceptual design into it's final product. My roles were to develop the research into programming the building, designing and developing the floor plan for the second building,
performing the calculations and regulations to reach net zero, along with the sustainable diagram.
The Woodlawn Center is a carbon neutral mixed-used facility that will serve as a gateway to the 63rd Street Commuter Rail Station. To respond to the Barack Obama’s Library, we incorporated Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” intuitive to bring healthier aspects to the community. By intergrading Health, Education, and Recreation; it will become a center of local services to connect other communities to Woodlawn. In our plan, we designed two buildings on both sides of the train system to match the aesthetics of the neighborhood and provide a rich mixture of housing, shopping, and transportation services.
